Sculpture unveiled

A two-ton bronze sculpture, created by a Somerset artist, has been unveiled at Portishead Marina.

Giles Penny's Man and AnimalMan and Animal was created by Giles Penny, a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors, and has been installed temporarily next to the lock control building at the marina.

It is the latest piece of art to be created under the Portishead Quays Consortium Public Arts Strategy, and consortium spokesman Chris Cain said it would eventually form part of a sculpture trail. He said: "This sculpture is part of a whole series of works of art that have been installed around the site. Man and Animal has been placed next to the Lock Control Building as a temporary measure, and eventually will be placed in a open space surrounded by trees and seats, which will allow people to stop and admire it. The works of art around the development are really helping to give Port Marine its own identity.
